Early literacy builds the foundation for academic achievement.

Davis School District’s Family Literacy Nights help families support children’s reading and learning from the earliest years through elementary school. Families will participate in hands-on activities, learn practical strategies and choose four sessions tailored to their child’s age, grade and learning needs.

Sessions are designed for children ages 0–3, ages 3–5, kindergarten and first grade, and second and third grade. Sessions will be offered in English and Spanish, with interpretation available in additional languages.

Stop, Drop and Roll
If your clothes or body catches fire, you need to remember the lifesaving technique:

STOP, DROP AND ROLL

FIRST: stop exactly where you are instead of running, as movement or panic will only fan the flames and make them spread faster.

NEXT: drop immediately to the ground in a flat position, using your hands to cover your face, eyes, and mouth to protect your airways and skin from the heat.

FINALLY: roll over and over, or back and forth, until the fire is completely extinguished.

World Mental Health Day
Mental Health is a fundamental component of our overall well-being, directly shaping how we think, feel, handle stress, and connect with others. Far from being separated from physical health, a healthy mind acts as a shield for our bodies; chronic emotional distress can trigger real physical ailment, including high blood pressure, sleep disruption, and an increased risk of heart disease. Nurturing our mental health is not a luxury, but an essential foundation for leading a vibrant, balanced, and meaningful life.

2nd Grade Tie-Dye
This week our 2nd Graders had a good old-time bunching, twisting and folding T-Shirts to be Tie-Dyed. This is a fun hands-on experience where there are no mistakes only unique masterpieces. Squeezing bright, vibrant, bold colors from a bottle onto a shirt is often a therapeutic rush of self-expression. Great Job 2nd graders!

Read A Thon
My Hot Chocolate cold, my vision blurred,

I' m hunting down every single word.

My snacks are gone, my back is sore,

But wait- I've got to read one more!

Reading is a foundational life skill that fundamentally shapes how we think, communicate, and navigate the world. It also empowers individuals to gain knowledge independently. Let us all pause for a little while and get lost in the pages of a story book!

September 15th-October15th Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate our culture, our traditions and the stories that bring us together. Our Legacy lives on in the traditions we share. The languages that we speak and people who taught us where we come from are important. At Bluff Ridge Elementary we celebrate every story, every culture and every family that makes our community so special. We honor our roots. We celebrate who we are, and we teach our children to be proud of their history.

KINDESS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT MAKES THE WORLD A MORE CARING AND SUPPORTIVE PLACE. A SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS CAN BRIGHTEN SOMEONE'S DAY, OFFER COMFORT DURING A DIFFICULT TIME, AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT. KINDNESS CREATES A SENSE OF COMMUNITY. EVEN SMALL GESTURES, SUCH AS LISTENING, OFFERING HELP, OR SPEAKING KINDLY, CAN MAKE A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE.

Saying Boo to the flu means taking simple steps to protecting yourself and others during flu season.
Washing your hand regularly, getting vaccinated, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home when you
feel unwell can help prevent the flu from spreading. These are ways that we can keep our families, schools and
community safer.
